FORT WHYTE ALIVE!

Thank you for your patience hikers and walkers as we had to navigate our plans around the unfortunate wildfires situation. HERE IS OUR PLAN

Join Out There as we take a walk through the boar walks and serene forest trails of Fort Whyte Alive(1961 McCreary Rd.) on Sunday, June 29th.

MEETING INFO: We will be meeting at the Seasons of Tuxedo Tim Horton's(670 Sterling Lyon).
We will gather starting at 2:45 with a planned departure of 3:00.
From the Tim Horton's we will take a short walk up to the Paget-Stewart trail, which will lead us south towards Fort Whyte. This adds a little time to the walk, but allows us to enter without charge.

BUS:  The 677 runs up Sterling Lyon on the weekends from Beaumont Station (this is the new schedule that starts June 28).

PARKING: Parking at the Tim Horton's or at any of the lots in the area is an option.

PLANNED ROUTE: We will begin heading up the Paget-Stewart trail, until we merge into the Lake Devonian trail, where we will hit the boards walk, before turning back around. These are well groomed, flat trails totalling roughly 10km that meander around the wetland and through the woods with wildlife abound. Expect a walk of around 2 to 2.5 hours. Feel free to check out the trails on Alltrails.

CONDITIONS: With the dry season we've had, the trails should be in ideal shape. It's always a food idea to check the forecast and dress/hydrate accordingly. Bug spray wouldn't hurt either.

REGISTRATION: NO NEED. Everyone will walk up together from the Tim Horton's
COST: From where we are entering, we will be able to avoid paying at the interpretative centre. Loonie donation for Out There will be collected.

COST:  There are different price point for admission: $13 for adults; $12 for 65+, $11 for students and children 3-17, Free for First Nations/Metis and for children under 2. Loonie donation for Out There will also be collected.
It is a short drive to Fort Whyte from the Tim's, but if your catching a lift, please bring $5 for your driver.

DOGGOS: Are unfortunately not permitted on this walk

GUESTS: Are welcome. This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event, do guests should be community members or allies

QUESTION/CONCERNS: Can be directed to Matt: mattmacneil.wpg@gmail.com
