LA BARRIERE PARK WALK

The forecast looks great, so let's get walking . Join Out There for a stroll in the beautiful La Barriere Park (4403 Waverly St., La Salle MB) this Sunday, October 19th @2pm.

MEETING INFO:  Because transit doesn't run all the way out there, we will meet @ the McDonald's on the south Pembina ( 3045 Pembina@ Bairdmore/Dalhousie) beginning at 1:30 with a plan to carpool and leave for the park before 2pm. It is between a 10 and 15 minute drive from the McDonald's to the park

MEETING AT THE PARK: If it is easier to meet us at La Barriere, we will gather by the washrooms/pavilion on the west end of the main parking lot. Expect the rest of the group to arrive between 2:00 and 2:15.

BUSING: The BLUE line( St.Norbert) bus runs down south Pembina and will get you right to the McDonald's

REGISTRATION: To ensure we have enough rides from the McDonald's. Registration is requested. Please email Matt: mattmacneil.wpg@gmail.com
Please state whether you require a ride, can offer a ride, or plan to meet us at the park.

TRAIL: Crossing over the La Salle River, then following its banks, this is a dirt trail that takes us through the forest, before emerging briefly along a farmers field, where we can soak up the sun. This isn't a terribly long trail, at around 3km, so the plan is to cross Waverley and do a portion of the Amisk trail that runs along the LaSalle.
All told, expect a walk of roughly 6km, taking between 1.5 to 2 hours.

COST:
A loonie donation to Out There is requested. If you attend many walks/hikes, you can contribute $5 to cover the entire year. If you already have, you're set
It would also be a nice gesture to contribute to your driver if you're catching a ride.

GUESTS: Are welcome. This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event, so guests should be community members or allies.

DOGS: If you are driving yourself in, dogs are welcome, provided they stay on leash and can match our pace.

*****This walk is replacing the proposed hike to Bear Lake*****
