Elk Island Provincial Park

This island park is just off the north shore Victoria Beach. The island can be accessed only on foot, via a sandbar between the mainland and the island.  The walk over the sandbar is about 1/2 km.  Depending on the direction of the winds, hikers may have to wade through a small stretch of water -- we understand that this year the depth of the water crossing might be up to 18 inches / 45 cm.  The water will be warm and the sand soft, but you may wish to bring water sandals or extra socks for the crossing -- and a towel to dry your feet.  This was our most popular hike last season.  This year, the hike will be led by Don.
